It has gone beyond speculations that there is a possible studio reunion between the defunct Mohit bosses, Don Jazzy and D’Banj. The issue got more light during the legendary music icon, 2face Idibia‘s 40th anniversary celebration as he publicly pleaded with them to work together and produce a hit song once more for their fans.
Don Jazzy has however, remained mute on the issue especially in public though his former partner, D’Banj seems to be very excited and desperately eager to collaborate with Don Jazzy once more.
D’Banj, in an exclusive chat with Potpourri (Vanguard) said
“Glo has said they will sponsor it, even before 2Face begged us. We’re already working on something great that you guys will love; and I guarantee you will hear it very soon. I believe that with 2Face saying it that day, it represents the voice of the people. You have to also know that since it’s my 10th year anniversary, it’s also Don Jazzy’s 10th year as well. Don Jazzy is my brother now when it comes to endorsement as Diageo endorsed him too. We can even go on a tour together; what do you think?”
Don Jazzy and D’Banj parted ways in 2012 after several attempts at reconciling the disagreement between the proved abortive.
D’Banj moved to the US for a record deal with Kanye West’s label, Good Music while Don Jazzy and some members of the former Mohit record move forged ahead which lead to the birth of “Mavins”, what i term as the most formidable African music empire today.
