EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND OF MASTERMAN.
Well, this is a very long story and a little bit complicated but I am going to cut it short.
He was not born in Nigeria rather in Gabon, He had His nursery and primary education there which is why today, he speaks, writes, communicates and as well raps confidently in French.
In the late 2003 his mom decided to bring them (Him and his siblings) back to their motherland so that they would continue their studies back home. He had his secondary education at GOVERNMENT SECONDARY SCHOOL OWERRI and later enrolled for National diploma at FEDERAL POLYTHECNIC NEKEDE, OWERRI where He studied Computer Science and successfully graduated in 2014.
HOW AND WHERE DID MUSIC START FOR IGBO AND FRENCH RAPPER, MASTERMAN?
Not like many other rappers that claim to have started from the church or school bands, choir or by playing beats on their schools class room lockers in their early childhood stages. MASTERMAN story is different. MASTERMAN was passionate for acting. In his childhood he normally plays the character of “SANGOKU” of a cartoon TV series called “Dragon Ball Z”, “Bruce Lee”, “Jackie Chan”, “Peter Pan”, “Superman” just to tag a few. MASTERMAN was not a 100% lover of music but was also influenced by “RHUMBA Music”, “NDOMBOLO Music”, “SOUKOUS Music”, ”MAKOSA Music” , “Coupé-Décalé Music”, “musique variété” without leaving behind “BAROUJOU Musique” of Mali. MASTERMAN was looking up to great African Musicians like SALIF KEITA, ANGELIQUE KIDJO, PATIENCE DABANI, KOFI OLOMIDE, MAGIC SYSTEM, PAPA WEMBA to mention but a few.
As you can see HIP-HOP Music did not make it to the list, until 2004 when, according to Him heard a song by 50CENT titled “Many Men” play on air, at that instant He developed interest not only on that song but fully on MUSIC.
In 2009 He started writing his own verses, punchlines and hooks in English but was finding it common among every young boy in the street doing the same thing and not really easy for him, so he took it upon himself to figure out how best he could do his thing and enjoy it but most especially to be different from others. Mean while French language was already taking a leave from him. So for him not to part ways with his language of birth he boldly decide to retain it by puting it in his art. He started writing punchlines in English, Igbo and French language and memorizing it.
In 2011 he met a friend who was a singer then who introduced him to a producer friend of his who recorded his first studio song “Party Begin”.
From then he started evolving, learning new features, unlocking new stages until he dropped “Na She Give Me” in 2015 that secured him a little recognition in his city Owerri. In 2016 he dropped “Chicken”, the song was massively aired on most radio stations in the south east and was widely accepted because of his ability to rap in English, French and Igbo. Till date all he does is to unlock new features and stages.
